Meet the team from NEET, who aim to enable people with learning disabilities to live an inclusive & fulfilling quality of life. NEET facilitates practical learning opportunities in a real working environment. They are dedicated to providing a supportive framework in which everyone can work to the best of their ability.
In 2003, Chris was registered blind—a life-changing event that led him to excel in food education
Chris will share how this experience shaped his journey and will also showcase how to make Yorkshire Bao Buns, blending one of his favorite Asian dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Currently, Chris is collaborating with primary schools and community organizations and hosting pop-up supper clubs in Thirsk, where he highlights his passion for Asian cuisine.

Meet the team from Ryedale Vineyard who are providing an excellent opportunity to learn about and try a selection of Yorkshire made wine.
The Vineyard’s team are sharing and discussing tasters of their wine for those over the age of 18 as well as an array of local cheese and nibbles paired with the wine. There is the ability to buy bottles of the wine during the tasting session as well.
This event is a free event for those who book, places may by limited.
A light hearted competition somewhat in the manner of “Ready Steady Cook”. Two of the Trussell Trust volunteers cook meals from Trussell ingredients using the Festival’s stage set. The “competition” is preceded by a reception drink provided by the festival and some nibbles also created from the Trust materials. The event is open to all on a pay what you can basis.
