Shambles Market Easter Egg Trail

Shambles Market, Silver Street, York, YO1 8RY 10:00 until 17:00

Shambles Market will be hosting an Easter egg trail with every entrant receiving a chocolate treat! Pick up your entry form from The Dark Horse Espresso Bar and make your way around the market to identify each numbered egg to its stall holder.

Chocolate Sculpture Exhibition

York Mansion House, St Helen's Square, York, YO1 9QL 10:30 until 16:30

York Mansion House has unveiled this delicious chocolate model of York, taking over 50 hours to make and weighing around 27kg! The 3ft high chocolate sculpture incorporates York Mansion House, York Minster and Micklegate Bar.

The sculpture was made by Ashley McCarthy from Ye Old Sun Inn and will also make an appearance on Channel 4’s Extreme Chocolatiers in April.

Chocolate Truffle Making

York Cocoa Works, 10 Castlegate, York, YO1 9RN 11:00 until 12:00

There will be a demonstration of how YCW make their sumptuous ganaches before you handpipe and handroll yours into shape. You will then be shown how to professionally temper the chocolate ready to dip and finish them to take home.

The Easter Bunny’s Easter Egg Hunt

18 - 22 Apr 2019 York's Chocolate Story , Kings Square, York, YO1 7LD 11:30 until 12:30

The Easter Bunny and his buddy are visiting York for an incredible Easter egg hunt experience. Children will join the bunny in amazing games, collect chocolate and meet colourful characters as they work to find the missing chocolate eggs. (Available at 11.30am and 2pm)


Led by costumed characters and starting outside the attraction in King’s Square, before moving to the beautiful surroundings of the Merchant Adventurers Hall, this is the perfect way for families to get into the Easter Spirit.

Be aware! The Easter Bunny loves fresh air and that this event will be entirely outside! Also: It is Yorkshire – so come weather prepared!

Demonstrations and Tastings

Demonstration Area, Parliament Street 12:00 until 16:30

Demonstrations and tastings will be available from 12pm each day of the festival, where chocolatiers and chefs will share their knowledge on all things chocolate.

12pm – York’s Chocolate Story: Join their expert chocolatiers to uncover the secret of chocolate making and see how chocolate is made by hand.
1pm – Festival director: Michael Hjort will show a chocolate pasta dish, making chocolate pasta from scratch
2pm – York Cocoa Works: The Story of Chocolate Making: Cocoa Bean to Chocolate Bar
3pm – Chopping Block: The head chef will demonstrate a chocolate and almond and nut Mille Feuille


Guided Chocolate Manufactory Tour

18 - 22 Apr 2019 York Cocoa Works, 10 Castlegate, York, YO1 9RN 12:30 until 13:30

Learn how YCW make their chocolate with guided explanation whilst watching our chocolate makers at work through the glass partition. You will be able to sample the raw ingredients as you journey through the Manufactory line, ending with a tutored tasting of some of our single origin chocolates. (Available 12.30pm and 3.30pm)

Easter Sunday Afternoon Chocolatada
