York is home to the world’s most famous chocolate bar, the Kit Kat, and there is a lot of love here in the chocolate city for all things cocoa. Join us in our academy and learn how to create your very own chocolate bar. You will discover our cocoa origins, we will show you how to temper chocolate, and you will experiment with different flavours to perfect your masterpiece! Once the bars have set, you will package your creations to be enjoyed at home.

Learn how York Cocoa Works make chocolate with their Chocolate Manufactory Tasting Journey.
During your time with us, one of our expert chocolate makers will share the secrets of our cocoa and how we transform it into chocolate. You will discover our origins and learn the rich history of chocolate making in York before taking a peek into our manufactory and watching our chocolate being made. This session concludes with a special tasting conducted by our cocoa connoisseur. You will sample the chocolate we make from cocoa beans all around the world, experiencing the different strengths and flavour notes in our range.
Following the journey, you are invited to join us in our Cocoa Cafe where you can use your ticket to enjoy further discounts across our whole product range.

Create your own special blend of caramelised nuts and cocoa to develop your own chocolate pralines.
To Praline meant to preserve, usually coated in caramelized sugar, the word praline now has different connotations, classic praline is blended sugar coated nuts, while in the chocolate box it’s usually a chocolate filled with a nut and chocolate combination, while in Belgium all filled chocolates are known as pralines. We will be exploring the whole process working with almonds and hazelnuts, learning different techniques to create different flavours before creating our own perfect praline filled chocolate.

York Cocoa Works have been adding to the rich history of chocolate in York through their Manufactory on Castlegate, producing chocolate within the city walls. Join them on Parliament St for a guided tasting.

Things are a bit different this year so we’ve tweaked the format of our Taste Trail. Rather than joining each business individually, the Taste of York Taste Trail gives you access to several venues in the centre of York that will each offer sampling from the surrounding businesses.
Riverford York will be showcasing some of their top quality produce with a vegetarian cookery demonstration.
